Here is a link to the Induction Ceremonies held by the Emmitsburg Lions Club , May 10th 2007. Past District Governor Ochoa presented a plaque honoring Emmitsburg Lion Herb Gingell. They donated to Lions Vision Research Foundation in his honor.
PDG Ochoa also inducted 4 new members. Lion Denise, Marilyn, Husband Bill and Bill Hartman.


The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimo…

The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore has the world famous Wilmer Eye Institute.

Visiting there yesterday with Barbara, I was able to take some pictures of the Wilmer Rotunda.
Lions Clubs support the Low Vision Center at Wilmer through the $4M endowment fund Lions Vison Research Foundation.

Emmitsburg Lions Health Screening Event

The Emmitsburg Lions held their annual Health Screening event (formerly called Health Fair)at Mother Seton School , Saturday March 24, 2007. Preregistrations alone exceeded 220 participants for the Multiphasic Blood Screening provided by the Gettysburg PA Hospital. Many compliments were received by the Lions and thanks was given for the service that the Lions Club provides to the greater Emmitsburg community.
Bill Hartman of the Emmitsburg Ambulance Corp provided blood pressure screening, Lion Jim Hahn vision screening, Lion President Joe Ritz, pre-school screening, Teresa (nee) Davis provided osteoporesus(sp) screening

Emmitsburg Lions (original) Formed August 1929

The original Emmitburg lions Club was formed in August 1929 as the second Lions Club in Frederick County Maryland. According the the Washington Post
“Emmitsburg Md., Aug. 16 A Lions Club the second in this county are a memberhip of 20 prominent citizens of this community formed a permanens organization at a meeting and dinner held in the Hotel stagie here last night. Representatives of the Frederick Lion Club which is sponsoring the local club assisted in the cermones.”

November 30th 1929 it was reported in the Gettysburg Star and Sentinel

“EMMITSBURG GLOB FORMED Charter Will Be Presented To EmmiUbnrK LIONS Club Tills Evening. Two hundred persons attended the banquet and ceremonies at the Hotel Slagle, EMMITSBURG. Tuesday evening, in connection with the pre- sentation of tblt charter to the new- ly-organiz…” The Charter night according to this account was Nov. 26, 1929.
